WELCOME!

Homewood Friends Meeting is a congregation of the Religious Society of Friends, also known as Quakers. Our meetinghouse is located in the Charles Village neighborhood of Baltimore City. We warmly welcome new Friends and all visitors to join us for worship on Sundays and other activities.

Worship: We hold silent Meeting for Worship in the unprogrammed manner of Friends. Learn more about Meeting for Worship. Our Meetings are held every Sunday beginning at 10:30 AM at our Meetinghouse (directions here) and on Zoom (link here). Join us afterwards for a simple lunch. (Click here if you have more questions about Quakerism).

Children are welcome! We offer First Day School to school-aged children (generally kindergarten through 8th grade) each Sunday during the school year. For younger children, the nursery is open every Sunday during Meeting for Worship. Learn more about our children’s program.

Everyone is welcome! Homewood Friends strive to be diverse and welcoming to all. We embrace people of all races, religions (or no religion), sexual orientations and gender identities, as well as national origins, abilities, and ages.  Visit the pages of our affinity groups and coalitions we belong to:

Accessibility:
Our Meeting House is wheelchair accessible via the ramp to the front door.  We have an elevator that reaches all floors of the building and an accessible bathroom on the first floor.  Meeting for Worship, Meeting for Business, and other selected events are also accessible via Zoom (Zoom info here).

Structure of Homewood Friends Meeting: Like most unprogrammed Quaker Meetings, Homewood Friends Meeting does not have a minister. We have a presiding clerk who is responsible for overseeing the administrative aspects of the Meeting. We seek spiritual unity around the decisions that we make to sustain and grow Homewood Friends Meeting. Meeting-wide decisions are made at the monthly Meeting for Business which typically occurs on the First Sunday at 12:30 PM. Whether you’re a long-time member or new attender, all are welcome in our decision-making process. The work of the Meeting is distributed among committees and working groups. For more information about getting involved in the work of the meeting, take a look at our committees and contact the meeting office with any questions.
