You are cordially invited to join a Quaker-led inquiry into the history, strategies and techniques of nonviolent civil resistance, a practice dating back 300 years in Quakerism and beyond. Our book is Engler and Engler, This is an Uprising: How Nonviolent Revolt is Shaping the Twenty-First Century. We will meet at Homewood Friends on Mondays for seven weeks, from May 8th through June 19th (with a break for Memorial Day), and we will read two chapters each week. We begin May 8th with the Introduction and Chapter One, pp.vii-29. Books are available at Barnes & Noble at 33rd & St. Paul Streets. The series is sponsored by the Baltimore Quaker Peace and Justice Committee, a joint effort of the Stony Run and Homewood Quaker meetings of Baltimore, and facilitated by members of the meetings.
